Guests of Copper John's Resort are pleasantly surprised when they venture into some of the neighboring towns and find shopping venues they would not expect to see in a farming or fishing community. One place you must make it a priority to explore is the Vintage Home Market and Momentum Coffee shop in Gassville.
While this retail space is home to several local artists, craftsmen, and vendors, Vintage Home Market is not your typical flea market or antique store. The Market's old-world eclectic decor of repurposed signature pieces combined with modern achievements create an atmosphere that invites you into a different world you won't want to leave - unless, of course, it's time to return to Copper John's for some fishing! It's captivating interior design resembles the inspirational architecture you might expect to experience only in quaint European villages or a Thomas Kinkade painting.
Downstairs you'll find delicious baked goods, local honey, and jams at the Market's charming general store along with a diverse selection of market vendors carefully nominated to cater to refined tastes in jewelry, woven baskets, soaps, candles, home decor, wood carvings, clothing, antiques, art, and more!
All the cabins and lodges and Copper John's Resort are equipped with coffee makers, but if your pallet craves something a little more saporous, Momentum Coffee Co. located downstairs in the Vintage Home Market presents a thoughtfully curated menu of artisanal in-house roasted coffees and locally sourced baked goods. Choose a signature flavor from the menu, a seasonal drink, or ask any of the specialized baristas to mix up one of their favorite combinations for a tantalizing treat.
The Vintage Market's loft draws inquisitive visitors upward, serenaded by the melodies of talented musicians like Seth Maples skillfully playing the baby grand piano. Occasionally, the loft is graced by the enchanting strings of violinists and guitarists as well.
The loft also hosts a diverse range of small businesses and workshops that deserve more than just an honorable mention. Particularly appealing for our guests, especially anglers, is Flywater Outfitters owned by warm water fishing guide and well-known artisan, Michael Schraeder. The shop renders a gallant array of framed art, fishing gear, etched glasses, charcuterie boards, gourmet coffees, flight boards, and more, all sourced directly from American craftsman - an ideal stop for any sportsman. Anytime the Vintage Market is open, Flywater Outfitters is also welcoming visitors. For a more tailored experience, I suggest taking the time to connect with the artisan for a guided tour, as each item in the shop carries its own distinct narrative. But if Mr. Schraeder is unavailable, feel free to ask for help at the General Store counter downstairs.
This year, Flywater Outfitters is giving away a 4-hour guided fishing trip to one or two youths (ages 15 & under) during the Vintage Market's annual 12 Days of Christmas! The drawing will take place on Christmas Eve. For more information about entering to win this amazing opportunity, visit Flywater Outfitters Facebook page.
While some visitors come to Copper John's to unwind, many cherish the sense of community they encounter, fostered by genuine Southern hospitality of the locals. The regulars and vendors at Vintage Market and Momentum Coffee exemplify this warmth. I think the phrase "never met a stranger" must have originated here in these small fishing communities nestled along the White River in North Central Arkansas.
